The IT Zone (no. 6677805) is a not for profit social enterprise providing and promoting the effective use of ICT and core services to both members of local communities and organisations in Lancashire. We have four board members and three paid members of staff together with six volunteers and several specialist external consultants (such as community accountancy, legal services, employability contract holders.)
The IT Zone was launched in August 2008 following the closure of a long established local charity that had left an unmet need in the community. During the past 6 months we have delivered training and services: - VCFS infrastructure organisations. We are Working in partnership with Jigsaw Employment our staff has experience delivering NCFE level 1 & 2 in Employability Skills Certificate. The project manager is funded by Capacity Builders as the North West ICT Regional Champion coordinating ICT projects across 5 counties. We are a member of SELNET and engaged with many networks in the North West (Lancashire VCFS Consortium, North West Infrastructure Partnership, 5 counties partnerships, VSNW, NWENET etc) Our organisation provides professional, friendly, quality, social inclusive ICT training and support to address barriers to self development such as rural isolation, physical and learning disabilities, mental ill health, inequality of opportunity due to culture, age, gender, faith etc... Our services are all focussed towards inclusion and the effective use of technology to positively address and support the Governments white paper on digital exclusion. |
